Phyllis Arlene Knapp

Phyllis Arlene Knapp, 81, of Casey, IA, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at her home in Casey, IA.

Born on October 18, 1930 in Guthrie County, IA, to Charles and Statta (Thorn) Love, Phyllis attended Panora schools graduating with the class of 1948. She married Orville Knapp on September 21, 1951 in Greenfield, IA and spent 30 years farming by his side.

Phyllis loved to play cards, circle crosswords, computer games, jigsaw puzzles, and reading. Though, her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and spending time with them. Many hours were spent quilting, resulting in each of her beloved children and grandchildren receiving a handmade blue jean quilt.

Surviving Phyllis are her three sons, Jacob (and friend Jackie) of Adel, IA, Bob and wife, Joni of Anita, IA, Philip and wife, Kim of Walnut, IA; her two daughters, Linda and husband, Melvin Jr. Petersen of Atlantic, IA and Patti and husband, Bear Spitler of Cambridge, IA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Love (and friend Carol) of Marble Rock, IA and Kenny Love of Carson, IA; two sisters, Lucille Solley of Joliet, IL and Judy Bogs of Iowa City, IA; sister-in-law, Mari Love of Des Moines, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Orville; one daughter, Carolyn; and one son, Orville Dean II; her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Casey, Iowa.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at United Methodist Church in Casey, Iowa.

Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Casey.
